NJHS After the Bell Clubs and Tutoring

All clubs begin September 5th and continue weekly through May unless otherwise noted.

Get forms to attend from Main office. Its two forms that we need, a blue YMCA form and white North “after the bell” form.


  • Anime - Join Mrs. Akers and fellow anime lovers every Thursday for a lot of fun.  Student run, Anime centered!
  • Thursdays in G205


  • C.I.A (Community in Action)(Limit of 18 students) is a service club that meets after school on Tuesdays.  We are involved in community events to help others, better our community, and make a difference in the lives of others.  Activities will be student led.  We will visit Little Husky World and provide activities for those kids, participate in community events, help with feeder school activities, and much more.  Ms. Hawkins is looking for dedicated students to participate in this club.
  • Ms. Hawkins.  See her in room G239 for an application.  Members will be chosen based on their applications.  APPLICATIONS MUST BE TURNED IN TO MS. HAWKINS BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1!!
  • Tuesdays are regular meetings.  Other events may take place on other days including Saturdays.

  • French Club - We will do various crafts, learn about France and French-speaking cultures around the globe, celebrate French holidays, and offer opportunities for after-school French tutoring.

  • Environment Club - This club will be limited to 15 students.  Students will focus on maintaining our ongoing projects such as paper recycling and composting. Students will also have the opportunity to experience lessons and activities that focus on improving awareness of environmental issues.

  • Extra Innings  -  This will provide students the opportunity to get some additional assistance with classes, retake a test or work on a group project. It is offered for English and Math, specifically.  However students needing help with any class are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students must come prepared to do work.  (Attendance as needed)

  • Reaching Out – This club, in association with the NHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will be studying the Bible, Jesus Christ and God. Come and hang out with us for fun, food, and fellowship!

  • Tech Team - This is a student leadership team that will create technology enhanced projects for NJHS. Students must be willing to create and share ideas with peers and teachers. We will be doing robotics using EV3 legos, Makey Makey kits, Makers Space, snap circuits, stop motion videos, and other cool technology! Come join the fun!

  • Yearbook Club. Interested students will need an application for the Yearbook staff. Once selected, students on the Yearbook staff will work with representatives from Walsworth Publishing to create, market and sell the 2014-2015 yearbook.

  • YMCA Y-CAP - (Start date to be announced) This YMCA program promotes the growth of young men in our community through a research driven curriculum that focuses on character development.  Structured physical activity will also be offered as gym space permits.

  • YMCA DIAMONDS(Start date to be announced) This YMCA program works with young ladies to increase self-esteem by promoting healthy choices and relationships. The objective of DIAMONDs is to develop trusting relationships with adults, establish career goals, reinforce family values and promote commitment to school.

  • Hockey Club- Students who want to learn how to skate and play the game. All equipment provided. 45$ for USA Hockey Membership. Sign up with Mrs. Harris in room 241.

Fridays ONLY

  • Fridays at the YMCA - As weather permits, every other Friday, students will be transported to the Downtown YMCA where they will be allowed to use the facility. This program is only open to students who attend afterschool programs during the school week. This program is limited to 28 students due to transportation requirements. Students are only permitted if they exhibit the required behaviors.   Transportation home is not provided. Please indicate how your child will be transported home:
