PTSA Contests

Attached you will find information about the PTA Citizenship and Reflections programs.  Both programs are designed for students to share their ideas and special talents and be celebrated for their creativity!  EVERY student who enters will be recognized with a certificate by NJHS PTSA.

Students are also entered into a drawing for $25 gift card of their choice for each program.  Two entries per category are then submitted to state PTA for additional judging and recognition.  Truly, these programs allow the opportunity for our students to see their efforts above and beyond their schoolwork being rewarded, while their personal talents and gifts are showcased!

Citizenship is essay only for grades 4-12.  Reflections is for all ages and is divided into 6 categories:  film/video editing, dance choreography, music composition, literature, photography, and visual arts.  There are specific guidelines that apply to each category.  Please refer to the attachments for guidance.  Students may enter each category once per year.  These projects do not have to be large and elaborate; it is more important that it is the student's own idea and work, and that it is applicable to the program theme noted below.

TIPS:  The theme MUST be a primary part of the entry:  What is the heart of our country?  for Citizenship, and   Within Reach for Reflections.   The student's name/school should not be visible on the front of the piece for judging.  Every Reflections entry must have an artist statement to express the student's interpretation of the theme.

Entries are due no later than 3 PM on January 12, 2018 at the NJHS Front Desk/ PTSA mailbox.  Refer to the attachments for entry forms and guidelines.
